Have had motor off boat for five weeks. On putting it back on, find that on launching and running at low revs there appears to be a miss fire however with revs over three thou all seems OK. Have replaced plugs, changed plug leads, checked coils - all seem OK. Need advice as to what is the cause of the miss firing, as it only appears when boat is in water and motor is under load not when motor is running with muffs on. Have pulled leads but still same.
Is it electric or carby? It ran Ok before removal from boat.

Welcome albany 01!!!!!
If motor works fine except for low speed, and you are getting an occasional sneeze at idle, you may be running a little lean. Try turning each of the adjustment screws on the carbs 1/4 turn counterclockwise and put her in forward at under 1000 rpm and see if this helps. You can do this a few times and see if it gets better. If no change, keep track of the number of turns and return to the original setting. Check the plugs and see if any look different than the others.
Let us know what happens and we can go from there.
Good luck

Re: Evenrude 175 1996

Thankyou angus63, you are suggesting that it could be a fuel problem. As we had the motor idle for approx 5 weeks you could be correct. The fuel left in the carbs may have dried out and blocked the primary on one cylinder, causing the miss-fire at low rev. It ran fine before, so am loath to mess with jets, is there a way to clean the carbs without stripping? Live in Australia ,may not have cleaners here that you have. Thank You
