changing impellar on 35 horse johnson?

have changed impellar on 15 horse evinrude last year with very little problems....just wanted to know before i go out and remove the lower unit bolts if the shift lever still has to be removed the same way as the 15 horse i have....bolts came off and lower unit dropped 3/4 of an inch ,then i slid a small socket in the gap and undid a nut that let the lower unit slide right off.is this the same method for a 1980 35 horse johnson?

The shift linkage is under the plastic water intake cover's on your 35.

Your engine has a shift rod coupling behind the water intake screens.<br /><br />edit:eek:oops RJ beat me to it.
