Merc 80 Elpto Black Max Power Tilt Fault Please Help

HI ALL

I have a fault (I think) with the power tilt system

We recently fitted the motor to my boat and before we did this I had to remove the power tilt and replace the o ring kit on the main ram, we did this and all seemed well, its working fully too

The problem we have now is i noticing Oil in the water when the motor is tilted down, I have checked and found that it seems to be leaking from the main ram, there is power tilt fluid on the spacer washer and on the seal end cap,

Is this a fault or could it be that I over-filled the reseviour when we bled the system and replaced the fluid. The manual told us to fill it up then tilt the motor a few times up and down, it said keep topping it up until the fluid level stops falling. the tank was pretty full but it seemed ok

The tilt/trim is working in full but should I be concerned by this leak

It sounds like the o ring on the main shaft is leaking and needs to be replaced again. did you clean the shaft up with 320 paper if not check it for nicks and clean it up with a new o ring

I did check the shaft and all a ok, The o ring was also replaced in the seal end cap. I used a combined spacer/seal end scraper than the origional part but this was because it was a far better settup. the original scraper could ride up (which was part of the first fault) the shaft as pressure built up on it so I changed it to a system which now cannot move and it was all perfect and sealed.

Do you think its going to be a major problem or just a case of having to top up the sump every now and then. Its not leaking water inwards or anything
