Seacast questions

I'm replacing a relatively small area of transom in a 19' I/O with an overhang. The upper deck is over the transom, I have 6" of space above.

Is Seacast runny enough to scoop a cupful at a time from the bucket and pour into the cavity?

Should there be a strip of glass cloth or roving at all outside edges? Thanks.

Re: Seacast questions

Its not real runny once the fiberglass shreds are mixed in.You could go a little light when adding them to the mix.
Roving is needed on the outer edges in the Seacast.
The main concern is getting it in there without leaving voids or air pockets.
I hope you are removing all the wood first and prepping the inner shell.

MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE ALL THE OLD WOOD!

If you need to...just mix a little bit of seacast at a time so you dont waste it. It will dry up on you fairly quickly if you dont keep up with it.

Re: Seacast questions

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, ALL the wood is now out, and I've scraped the fibreglass with a sharp chisel to rough it up a bit. It was relatively easy, as I had full access to the inside, (no inner fibreglass), and a 15 x 16" opening outside, (OMC stringer)
I'll wash with acetone just prior to pouring.
