    Anti siphon valve

1999 Crownline 192 BR with a 5 liter Mercruiser 2 bbl carb. I am working through the fuel system to determine reason for acceleration and surge at WOT. Can anyone tell me where to find the anti-siphon valve on this boat? I bought it used 4 years ago, no owners manual came with the boat. thanks,

Slow to get to full RPM

1999 Crownline 5.0 liter Mercruiser with 2 BBL carburetor. When I put the throttle wide open it takes a lot longer to get to full RPM from a dead stop as before. Engine will sound "rough" as PRM are slowly increasing. Top end is still as fast as before, just a lot longer to get there.

Alarm comes on when I turn the ignition on

I have a used 1999 crownline 5 liter 20 foot bow rider. I have had the boat for the last 3 years and recently, coming out of winter storage an alarm goes off whenever I put the key in the ignition and turn the power on to the dash (not started engine). The alarm is a single tone, no beep. The...

Fogging through carb without starting engine

For various reasons I do not have access to my truck for towing my boat trailer for the next two months so I need to finish winterizing my boat at the storage site where I keep it. My question is can I fog the cylinders through the carb by turning the starter over (disconnect the coil wire) and...

Where are my drain plugs, 5 liter mercruiser

After reading multiple posts regarding the treating of raw water intakes with antifreeze versus the "air don't freeze" posts I think I prefer the opening of drain plugs to make sure there is no water in my system. Only problem is my boat is a 1999 5 liter mercruiser with carb (alpha 1...

Considering using my boat this winter, antifreeze question

Instead of winterizing I am considering using my boat every couple of weekends throughout the Fall and Winter into next boating season. I have a 5 liter Mercruiser with Apha 1 drive (carb) with an open water cooling system. My question is should I run a mixture of antifreeze and water in...

    Winterizing Question

After reading several guides for winterizing my boat (1999 5 liter mercruiser alpha with carb) I cannot tell if you should also drain the carburetor bowl. Is that recommended or not? I have started using fuel stabilizer year round beginning of last summer so the fuel is stabilized. thanks

    Trim motor / switch

On a previous post I thought I had a bad connection on the wiring going into the trim pump in the engine compartment of my 1999 crowline 5 liter Alpha 1. I cleaned the leads and reattached them and the intermittent clicking still occured when I pressed the trim adjustment button on the throttle...

    Gimbal Bearing

How much grease does the Gimbal bearing take? I have a 1999 crownline 5 liter alpha 1 and have put grease in it but it keeps on "taking" the grease. I have done at least ten strokes on the lever for the grease gun and the fitting keeps on taking it. I bought the boat used last Summer and do...

    depth / fish finder install

I have a garmin depth / fish finder to install on my 1999 crownline 192 BR. The instructions talk about cutting a hole in the bottom of the hull ( i don't think so!) or that some boats have a recess already built into the hull for installation of the probe. As I bought the boat used and have...

    Rough idle

5 liter 1999 Mercruiser with a carb. Idles rough, takes at least ten minutes to warm up to where I can rev the engine while in neutral. At higher speed / rpm the engine sounds great and will run as fast as it ever has. The carb was rebuilt by a mechanic at the beginning of the summer. Some...

    trim motor

The control for the motor that raises and lowers the lower unit on my 1999 crownline 5 liter alpha drive is on the throttle / gear shift. There are two buttons, one is the "trailer button" that raises the lower alll the way up for me to trailer the boat. The other button will either raise or...
