    S250TURW ox66 maintenance

That model translates into a 98' 250 ox66. I bought the factory manual but it doesn't have everything like the new model (even 00') ox66 manuals (eg. oil link adjustment). The boat/motor is new to me. I ran it for a month before the season ended, it ran great but I wanted to give an updated...

    Yamaha Z200TXR Filter questions

My friend repowered 4 years ago and we wanted to replace his filters. He had the filters replaced two years ago at the dealer but we figured we do them ourselves this year. We've replaced the ox66 filters before so we'd figured we have no problems on the Z200. -Replaced the vst filter no...

    OX66 manual questions

I just picked up a boat with a 1998 OX66 250. Motor runs great and I want to keep it that way. Since this seems to be a relatively simple motor to maintain, I figured I would do it mostly myself. So like all motors I've owned, the first thing I did was purchase a Yamaha Factory Manual (Service...

    Merc V6 and carburetors

I'm trying to figure out if I have the right carbs for my engine. They are WH22-1,2,3. I technically don't know what year my motor is. My old powerhead blew a few years back (0B303415), and I bought another rebuilt V6 200 but it had a 25" shaft and my boat is for a 20" shaft and therefore we...

    L/U leaking gear lube

Haven't posted in a while, but it's nice to see alot of the same names. Of course I have problem and that's why I'm looking to iboats once again. Engine: 88' V6 200hp black max, 1.87 gear case. I found the L/U seeping gear lube from one of the "weep" holes on the L/U above the waterpump...

88' V6 200hp leaking fuel when tilted up

WHen the motor is tilted up, it leaks fuel from below the cowling. I replaced the gaskets that go between the airbox/silencer and the face of the carbs to no avail. Also, on my airbox there is no hose connection for a return line to the intake manifold. How can I stop this? It makes an oily...

    88 110hp V4 problems

History here...This is a friends boat. I took a look for the first time last night. Engine was surging a higher speeds and would always stall when put into gear. Then finally wouldn't run at all...he had lost spark. So he pulled the boat and... Replaced: Stator Powerpack Rect/Reg. Rebuilt...

    How to disconnect oil pump?

My friend has an 88' 135hp black max merc. He replaced the plastic drive once before and some other components but now it is starting to act up again and he rather just premix and forget it. My engine came with the oil injection pump already removed so I really don't know the procedure. Is...

    Slight Cavitation Problem

This is not a persistent problem but I am having some issues with the prop cavitating. 22' Mako hull with a V6 200hp Mercury 2.5L outboard. Still playing with the setup a bit. -Sunday I was out on the water in real choppy seas and it performed great, you wouldn't know I had any cavitation...

    Poppit opening or not??

Temp gauge reads normal and alarm isn't going off. Water pressure is 5-7psi at idle and at WOT it is about 18-20 psi. Is the 18-20psi to high? I just read a post by gss036 and he said his manual (1989 200hp) states that the water pressure is around 12 psi at WOT. Mine is an 1988 I doubt it...

    Found a decent match

88' V6 200hp (2.4 L) Merc on a 76' 22 foot mako. Spinning a 15p aluminum 5500 RPMs at WOT going 39MPH. With the 17p I was going about 42MPH but was only turning 5200 RPMs. I imagine in the future if I want to drop the extra $$$ on a prop, I could go with SS, cupped prop and go with a 17p. And...

    Can I drop my pitch?

1976' 22ft mako with a 2.5L 200hp 88' Merc with 1.87:1 gear reductions. Currently running a 17 pitch Black Max prop. At WOT I am turning 5200 RPMs at 42-43 MPH. I imagine there is at least 5% uncertainty in MPH even though it is a new gauge and sender. That is only 6% prop slip. I bet I can...

    2001 Johnson Carb'd model

Was it only the Fitch models that had problems in that era? I can get a really good deal on an 01' 250hp johnson carb'd.

    Excessive Carbon???

Background: 88' 200hp V-6 blackmax Engine has sat idle for the past 22 months during a boat resto. What I've done prior to attempting to set sail: -Rebuilt fuel pump, cleaned carbs, new fuel lines, primer bulb and fuel filter. -New waterpump, tstats and poppit assembly. -And all the other...

    Shift cable problem

I just replaced my shift and throttle cables. On the engine side, the shift cable keeps popping off the connector pin when I shift into forward. It no surprise really because it wants to pop off when I set in initially while the engine is in nuetral. What's the deal? How do I fix this.

    What's a good starting point

22 ft mako,~ 2000 lbs without motor, with a 200 hp Mercury. Nothing on it as of now, what's a good pitch to start at? I was thinking 19p or even 17p.

    The "Search" function

Am I the only one who HATES the search function since iboats went through its facelift. The old search function was much more streamlined than the current. With the current search function I end up getting 10 hits on the same post, whereas with the old version it would hit only one post once...

    86' Suzuki DT40 2 cylinder

The motor idles not so well and can not get up on plane. Compression is 95 and 100 psi on the two cylinders. Carbs and fuel pump have been rebuilt. There is spark on both cylinders but the #2 cylinder seems to have weak/intermitent spark. I figure the same set of stator coils power up both...

    89' 150hp V6 trim/tilt

When my buddy got the boat it had no battery in it. Since it was in the winter he just wanted to get the engine trimmed down so water wouldn't get trapped. He unscrewed some sort of bleed screw on the strb side of the motor on the bracket and the engine lowered. Now he can't get the screw to...

    Timing the engine

Merc 88' 200 V6 I don't have the timing pointer on the flywheel anymore (got lost) but the flywheel still has the degree tick marks. So I was hoping I could do the following: -get a dial gauge with a magnetic base and find TDC on cylinder #1. - Then make a mark on the block right under the 0...
