    I have a 78-80 mariner 40hp. Is turning that 40hp in 50hp as easy as swapping carbs? Or is there more work involved?

    I have a 1978-1980 40 HP Mariner (Yes I know it is a Yamaha made one), the steering bracket is cracked badly from a previous owner. Does anyone know if the powerhead must come off to remove it? It seems it does. Does anyone know where to find one??

    As a winter project I am going to build a en engine using mercruiser 350 block. Initial Questions... Can I just use a 350 GM truck block instead if I am starting from scratch like this? Does it have to be 4 bolt main or will 2 bolt main suffice? Does mercruiser even do 4 bolt main engines...

    Pressure gauge

    Would anyone know how to install a water pressure gauge on a mercury xr4 150 that does not currently have one? It runs at hot at around 200 degrees sometimes and I would like to check water pressures to see if they look good maybe my sensors or temp gauge is bad or off.

    Overheating

    Hello! I have an 89 mercury xr4 150 on a 17.5 fish n ski and it runs hot, temp gauge indicates around 200-225 degrees at idle and wide open. I just rebuilt the water pump and it works, tell tale has steady flow of water that is warm, thermostats replaced last fall as well. What else can I check...

    Mercruiser 5.0 to 5.7 swap

    So the 5.0 is trash, removed it from the boat. Lower unit is off too for a repair...I am getting a 5.7L engine to drop in, will I need to change the lower unit? Gimbal Assembly? Or transom assemblies to accommodate the 5.7? the years between engines are identical

    Rusty Gimbal

    After removing my lower unit on my mercruiser 5.0L I have found that the gimbal bearing is very rusty and needs replacing. Do I need to replace the entire housing for it? or just the gimbal and clean out the rust on everything surrounding it?
