    Swapping steering components??

The 93' johnson 120 had a dual cable steering on it. Have swapped my 76' 135 onto the boat that has single steering cable. The 120 simply has a housing bolted onto bracket for the 2nd cable. Could i somehow mount that onto the 135 bracket? If not, do i just remove the 2nd cable and toss it?

whats holds my 135 to the bracket

So i got the 76' 135 mounted to my new cmc pt130 and mounted on the new/old stratos 274fs. I can grab the lower end and swing it out from the bracket? With the original tnt, it held that it place so it wouldnt kick out. I do see holes on both sides of bracket but shouldnt a pin go thru those to...

    would this be overkill?

Replacing blown 93' 120 with 76' 135 on my 93 stratos 274fs. Just bought a CMC pt130 tnt. Its gonna provide a 6" setback. I have a 6"setback manual jackplate and was thinking about using it also. So, what do u all think? I also believe I need the cavitation plate 1-3 inches above the bottom of...

    Swap johnson tnt

Have a great 76' 135 with a weak tnt. Also have a blown 93' 120 with a great tnt. So, getting ready to put the 135 on the stratos and looking at the 2 tnt's i cannot see how to swap em. Is it possible? Looks like i need to remove the shift rod and swap the bracket but dont think they match up...

    Blown 120 johnson swap

My 87 glasstream bass boat transom is getting weak so i landed a 1993 stratos 274fs. Solid boat, in very good condition. But the 120 has a hole in the block from the rod exploding. My plan is to swap my 135 with a 4" manual jackplate off the glasstream to the stratos and then eventually get a...

    Shift rod measurement WRONG

Removed the LU to measure the shift rod height and replaced waterpump while there(glad I did). 1976 Johnson 135hp spec is 21 13/32". Adjusted length and reinstalled LU. When going up(reverse) the rod hits the block and cant go any further which in turn does not allow reverse to happen. I would...

    Cant get tach to work

The original tach in the boat wasnt reading, just stayed at about 1000 when running. Hooked up my OTC voltmeter that has an rpm reading and the wiring checked good, followed engine speed pretty accurately. Went to oreillys, got a tach and it does the same thing except it stays running at about a...

    Trim Tab missing

I just noticed while measuring my prop that the trim tab is missing on my 76' 135hp johnny. Does that cause any real issues? I ask becuz it has a hydrofoil on it. I am also fighting a slow boat and cant imagine this would be the problem. The previous owner was a real dumb sh** and I'm finding...

I think my boat is slow

I HAD THIS POST EARLIER THIS YEAR : http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=395641. I finally got her on the water, new tnt pump(THANKS RRITT), new cdi ignition, coils, plugs/wires. I ended up having to use a screwdriver to pry lever to engage forward but it worked for the time being. Need new...

    Help w/shifter cable

My lower end problem turns out to be a misadjustment in the shifter cable. I had no forward gear, heard clicking. So I attempted to adjust the darn thing for the last 2 nites and cannot for the life of me get both forward and reverse to engage. Its either one or the other, not both. I can get...

    She dont go

Well after dealing with this no spark issue(http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=405548) I get out to the lake and back off the trailer, move throttle forward but boat dont go. Give her more throttle, prop is spinning, water is flying, still not moving. Trimmed up, trimmed down, nothing...

76' 135hp johny no start, no spark

As the title states. I brought this boat home, swapped out the fuel tank and fired the engine up. Ran good, throttled up fast, on the ear muffs. The controls wouldnt allow the throttle to return, had to manually do it at the motor. So I got a sweet deal on a complete OMC control with harness and...

    1976 Johnson controls

I'm alittle confused here fellas. 135 johnny has OMC control box on this boat. Still trying to get it on the water. The previous guy said that the engine would stay at full throttle even when control moved to nuetral so he decided to MOVE the throttle cable to a cheesy lever mounted just behind...

    Where does it pee:)

Thats how I've always expressed seeing the waterpump circulate. Anyways, where does it pee on a 1976 johhny 135?? Is it out the prop exhaust or the 1" square holes where the case meets the engine?? My 1971 rude 85hp had a pee hole on the side, but not this 135. Thanks as always - Jody

    Need advise on batt chargers

I have a 24v trolling motor (2 batteries hooked in series?) and of course the 12v cranking battery. The engine is a 1976 Johnson 135hp on an 86' glasstream 17ft angler. What can I do to keep the trolling motor batts charged while cruising. Yeah I can charge them out of the water, but I really...

    Simple tilt/trim question, I hope

76' 135hp Johnson. Getting ready to repair the tilt/trim and was curious: what is the electrical connector on the left outer ram if standing with motor in front of you? The previous owner had the wire laying in the bilge and I really want to do this right. I assume it may be a low fluid sensor...
