Pulling engine - need help with transmission disconnect

Mercruiser 228 in a 1980 Chris Craft 17 ft inboard. I have been told it’s a Paragon transmission. I am trying to pull the engine out and I can’t get the trans to separate from engine. I have it about 1/4 inch gap all around and doesn’t seem to want to go more. How does the flywheel and such go...

Mercruiser inboard 1980 Chris Craft Raw water cooling flowpath

So, I finally got all the parts and the thing back together. Raw water pump fully rebuilt. Here is the problem, the exhaust manifolds get too hot. At least 200F seems hot to me. So, I want to make sure this thing is plumbed correctly. I already confirmed the thermostat works properly. No water...

    Exhaust bellows needed.

I have a bit of a homligation of parts on my exhaust. What I am looking for is a bellow with a 3”inlet and 2.5” outlet. Alternatively I could make a 3” x 3” work. The problem is, exhaust bellows often don’t list dimensions. Anyone know part number for either one of those dimensions. Thanks, Ken

I have a 1980 ChrisCraft 170SS with a Mercruiser MCM228 Inboard engine. I would like to rebuild the freshwater pump, but the problem is, the drawings show a pump with inlets on the back, whereas my pump has inlets/outlets on the top and bottom. Any idea what model pump this is?

SB Chevy New Cam - Collapsed Lifter or Wiped Lobe?

Just put a new cam in the Vette along with a rebuild. Everything was running great for 80 miles, then a loud tick and slight backfiring. The number 6 intake rocker was loose. I tightened it back up but it was evident the rocker nut was down much further than the other rockers. I am certain it...

    Blizzard in Baytown, TX

Just finished playing in the snow. Had about 2-3 inches. Made the best snowman in my life. Perfect snow for rolling balls. The kids loved it. Last time it snowed was in 2002. This is the most snow I have seen in Baytown ever. The best part is, the temp was 31F and that will be the low tonight...

Have you seen the new Dodge Challenger

The new Dodge Challenger just looks freakin awesome. Wish I could get one. New Camaro will be out in a year or so and also looks great. Detroit finally made a new muscle car that should have strong sales. Problem is, they will probably become a victim of the economy. :(

    Carb or ignition problem?

Does this sound like an ignition problem or carb problem? 93 Mercury Sport Jet 90 ( 3 cylinder inline, Force powerhead, three carbs) Engine runs fine at idle, but low on power. I can ground the bottom cylinder spark plug and it makes no difference in the power, so it is definitely the bottom...

Computer tracking program to diagnose frozen computer

My desktop computer is having major issues. Everyonce in a while it completely freezes up with no response to anything, then after several minutes, it comes unfrozen and is all fine. Is there some sort of tracking program I can use to find out what is triggering the freezing issue? Thanks, Ken
