    fuel injection conversion?

72 Merc 302 with a carb. I figure about 3000.00 to change to a fuel injection set-up. My question is, is it worth it and about how much would I save on gas? Just so you know, there is no way I could do the conversion myself so I would have to pay. If my estimate is off please advise.
