    Regal 252

I may take a look at a 1994 Regal 252. I sold my Monterey 276 a year ago and want to get back into boating. Couple of questions. I have heard Regal builds a quality boat. Is there anything in particular to this model to look for? It was repowered 2 yrs ago. Believe 5.7. Also has an alpha 1...

Can I change the Bellows myself?

I'm not sure how difficult this would be - but I was thinking of doing this before the drive went back on. Relatively intelligent, relatively handy - I am not working with tools everyday, but I know the correct end of a hammer to hit in a nail. It's a Bravo 3 outdrive if that helps anyone...

    Filthy line

My boat was pulled this weekend. Second year of owning the boat and this one was pretty sad. A lot of rain and then some other commitments left us not too much time to go out, (but we did enjoy whenever we we on it). Boat was professionally winterized and I am now creating a "punch list" of...

    Why does a boat crack?

My friends Larson, (1999 290) seems to have developed cracks in different areas. One of the cleats has a 3" crack near it, the floor has some cracks to it, (some are near where a molded seat meets the floor). Near the water fill there is another crack. They don't look to bad, nothing chipping...

How do I "beach" a boat?

We boat in the Great South Bay off Long Island. I have seen boats at Fire Island on the bay side that drop an anchor and are in about 1-2 feet of water. Looks great - kids can basically walk off and play in the water. These boats have to be sitting on sand. My boat is 27' - How harmful is...

    Mercruiser 7.4L Oil Pressure

Went out this weekend and noticed that the oil pressure on the engine seems to be risisng. At no wake speed it is approx 40psi, but open her up to get on plane and I am at approx 60 psi. This seems higher than I remember. I did an internet search for the psecs and it appears that oil pressure...

First I tilit right and then I tilt lift

Alcohol was not involved :D Out on the Great South Bay with a full boat, (5 adults and 2 kids), up on plane and then the boat tilts to the right, I use the trim tabs, get back to leveled off, and then it tilts left. Weather was a little windy and I was running with the bimini top on. I don't...

Have you sold a boat on Ebay?

A buddy of mine has a '99 Searay that he was thinking of selling on Ebay and I wanted to get some feedback from people here if they have ever sold one through them. I have sold some small things, (stereo, old camera), but not a big ticket item like a boat. Any thoughts? Good/Bad experiences?

    Cabin Lights don't work

On my cruiser I have several interior lights and none of them work. Don't know what happened, they worked last year. Changed the battery at the begining of the year, other DC items, (refrig, stereo), work. Flipped the switch on the panel and they none of them go on. They each have a switch on...

    Leaf stains

Between the time I cleaned the boat and the time it was wrapped some leaves fell on it. When uncovered this year the leaves left some stains in the gel-coat, (both smooth and non-skid). Already scrubbed w/ boat soap, and have to try compound, can I compund non-skid area? Any other thoughts?

In need of a good compound

The boat needs to be componded, (not too chalky), but want to compound it before I wax it. I have never compounded a boat so there are a couple of questions. First - can anyone reccommend a good one that I will be able to do. The boat is 29' and I want to still be able to move my arms when I'm...

Do I need to bottom paint (again)?

Forgive the novice question. I thought I read somewhere that the bottom paint will last two years? I did it in the spring last year. When it was pulled at the end of last year there was absolutley no growth on it. (It is in salt water for the season, south shore of LI). I don't recall the...

    1st Boat season is done!

Well, boat was pulled 1st weekend of Nov and the first season is a wrap. We had a great year, learned an awful lot, (spent a month of wknds just learning how to dock), and in the meantime met a lot of nice people. We boat on south shore of Long Island and would spend many wknds at Watch Hill...

How do I mount an LCD TV?

Getting ready to pull the boat for the winter, (jealous of all you guys in the south :( ) - but starting to think of some projects. I have a 15 inch LCD TV at home not being used and was wondering if I could mount it in the V-Berth of my boat. I have some concerns. 1.) how do I mount it so...

Anyone know anything, (time, where to drop anchor), to see the Go Fast races this weekend on the Patchogue river this weekend?

    Kids riding on the bow

I have a cruiser type boat with a sunpad, there are rails on either side of the sunpad. When in a no-wake zone, (and only in a no-wake zone), my 6 yr old son asks if he can sit atop the bow. Have let him some times, and other times have said no. He has a life jacket on, and sits in the center...

How do you pump out a head?

As this is my first season with the boat, I have never pumped out the head before. It may sound like a dumb question, but since I do not have the manual, I was wondering if you could let me know how this is done. It is a manual head, (turn the handle for wet/dry pump) and it goes into a holding...

What is the best way to RAFFLE a boat?

OK - 2 footitis has happened already - bought the boat in October and after a several overnights with the family it is apparant that we need to move up. The boat has a V-berth and an aft cabin, but after the admiral and kids are on, there is really no place for extras. I am interested in a...

New Boater - might be dumb question

I understand that the bottom growth could slow down a boat. I am docked on South Shore of Long Island, salt water, and haven't been able to move the boat for 2 weeks. Could there be enough growth on the bottom in two weeks that would slow it down after only 2 weeks? I do have an ablative...

What is a decent, (inexpensive) GPS / Chartplotter?

Still very much a newbie. My boat has an old SIMTEX chartplotter, (not fixed). I only boat in the Great South Bay (near Patchogue), and probably will never stray too far away. I'm looking for a decent chartplotter, so I can go from point A to point B and not hit all the sandbars. Looking...
