i bought this motor under the assumption it "runs good"
but this is what i have so far.
i turn the key to the on position and then i hear a short beep, which is standard or "usual" but then a few more seconds, there is one long continuous beep.
after the long beep ends, i can see the fuel...
i have a 1992 dt225 efi and it runs good at low rpms. when i throttle up more it begins to like loose power i guess. it makes the same sound as a car when you rev it and the rev limiter takes over. same sound like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8y3R7tsToFU

i got this motor with this stainless steel rod stuck in the steering tube. im guessing its from a hydraulic steering. but i doesn't move at all. how do i remove it so i can install my regular teleflex cable steering? i tried beating it with a hammer, still does not move.
the motor ran good on the boat, when i took it home and try to start, no spark. im thinking the wiring is not hooked up right. can i start the motor without hooking up any wire harness at all? by jumping the starter?
i dont have a control box or cables,... is there any other way i can connect the battery and touch wires to get this started. i just need to see it run. thanks.
