    73 Inline 6 150hp cuts out?

    I just started the motor on the muffs,and it would run ok for a couple on minutes then it cut out as if Iwas turning the motor off .it starts up again no worrys. Any ideas?

    Will this coil work ok on a inline 6? They say it will work on a large variety of motors so I can't see how it won't work on mine. Serial: 8008578 Australia model.

    2001 Mariner 15hp fuel pump?

    When I have the motor in a test tank and its in gear, if I try to raise the RPM it starts to die. If I sqeeze the bulb it comes good. Should i just assume its the fuel pump? Anything else these motors are renouned for? Needle seat stuck maybe.. Pumps arent cheap here in australia.

    Just wondering on how to test coil. It runs ok on idle but won't get up on plane. Had machanic in the boat, he suspects weak coil. Everything else is good! Carbs, link etc..I need to know how to test coil.. Tested the tower of coil to earth and shoots 1/4 of inch of spark..

    How often would you expect to have to replace the spark plugs? My boat still don't want to plane,timing perfect, carbs serviced. The plgs are about 4 years old. Not much use though but a lot tuning problems lately.

    Power comparision I6 merc vs Etec& newer outboards

    Just curious on what the power differances are between the I6 150hp vs the Etec 115. Obviously the Etec is more efficent .The I6 has a light weight advantage, where Etec weight is not so good. . Is it the power to weight that give the tower its name or shear power it puts out.
