2020 F4MH which carb to convert to 6hp

Hi all, I have the above engine and would like to convert to 6hp I’ve done some reading and all that is required is the Mercury 6hp carb but I also read that a 6hp Tonhatsu carb will do the same job at a lesser cost. Can anyone enlighten me as to which carb I need to buy please ? My engine...

    3.0LX - Mercarb to Rochester ?

Thanks Scott. What has to be done for it to fit ? The seller said they’d supply it with the correct fuel inlet so the pipe doesn’t need to be bent.

    3.0LX - Mercarb to Rochester ?

Hi all I’m thinking of buying a Rochester 2 bbl as a spare carb due to the boat being in a remote location. I’m told by the vendor that it’s a direct replacement. Is that true ? is my idea sound or am I asking for any trouble ? many thanks

Had at least 3 tanks worth of fuel since coming out of storage. New filter too. Wouldn’t that mitigate the goo ?

Thanks and I agree about the bearing as the engine temp doesn’t move from 150 and the engine spins up nice on the starter. This engine doesn’t have thunderbolt it’s EST ignition module and the module was replaced last year.

    Does this sound normal ?

Mercruiser 3.0lx Alpha one gen 2 whilst I’ve been working on something in the engine bay this sound from the coupler area caught my attention and I wanted to ask if it sounds normal ? almost sounds like a diesel - engine runs nice and quiet, all this noise comes from the transom area. Urgent help - nearly broke down at sea. Fuel Problem.

Had a quick go at removing the pickup tube but the fitting wouldn’t budge. Don’t want to risk breaking it and don’t have time for penetrating fluid. I found a local with an outboard tank and I hooked it up directly to the fuel pump. Started her up at anchor in neutral and brought the rpm to 3500...

Thanks Bondo, we ran out of time and the boat is due to be towed to dock in an hour or so. Now she will be at the mercy of Greek island engineers. Not ideal

Regarding a spun coupler - I’ll explain more clearly what happened. we were cruising at 3600 rpm or thereabouts at 23 mph with 4 young kids and 2 adults. All of a sudden the rpm dropped to 3k on the gauge and we lost power and slowed down to around 5-10 mph maybe more but my gauge isn’t working...

Yep thought about it after posting. I tried to get the big top nut undone today with an adjustable spanner to no avail. was I working on the right nut or should I be undoing the square block that the asv screws in to ?
