I need to replace the lower unit shaft oil seals but the spanner nut seems to be unwilling. Since it is plastic, worried about ruining the nut....any suggestions or idea on how to remove it. I don't have a spanner tool.

I have two merc outboards, 1990 oil injected 40 hp (bad piston) and 1989 classic 50, 45 hp non injected. I would like to put the power trim on the 45 hp but the swivel mount is very different. I would need to remove the shift rod and haven't figured that out. Does any know if the PPT will fit...

when fishing yesterday, turned engine off while backing trailer in to load. When restarting, just a click noise...loaded with trolling motor. Next tried to tilt engine, same click sound. Everything worked perfect before trying to restart...
