    Does the water pump start immediately or wait for the thermostat? And if it waits, how long can I run this in a barrel safely before it overheats?

    1964 Starcraft with 40hp Johnson, no spark, running lights don't work.

    Fuses check, starter motor will run when jumpered. Solenoid checks out, safety switch also. The running lights is odd, but don't think that relates. Have power at the switch and when I turn it to start also. 2 fuses in junction box are ok. No wires damaged, etc. No spark also. Frustrated.

    The cable that goes into the lower unit on mine was wrapped in a kind of fabric. It goes thru the water pump and down into a hole and into the lu...how is that sealed?

    I have oil in the water pump area. I have the entire LU apart. Is there an online place to see the parts/gaskets so I can know what to order? Anyone konw of an online parts dealer? Would water in the LU oil make it not go forward ? I get just a tiny bit of fwd thrust...
