Yep, what walleyehed said.
One other thing I dont think we went over was the double check all the fuel lines and make sure the clamps are good and tight.
I use small hose clamps, but some people frown on that and prefer to use the OMC zip ties. Either or works fine. The trick is to get them tight, but not to tight as to break and of the small plastic fittings.

I have small hose clamps on everything but the nipple at the bottom of the carbs(zip ties).

I even have clamps on those too. You just have to position the one on the bottom carb so the clamp will tighten, and install them before puting on the carbs.

At idle the cam follwer should not be touching the cam. Therefore the carbs should be shut. There is a rod from the top carb to the bottom. On each carb there is a screw for adjustment where that link connects or a screw in the center of the link. Loosen one screw or the other so the link isnt putting pressure on either carb.

A pop out the exhaust may not be related to a lean sneeze out the front of the carbs.

Got that straightened out and it will try to idle but still sneezes and dies. I can move the trottle a little further back than I could before.

When you say "it sneezes" -- is it sneezing out the front of either carb or only out the exhaust?

only the exhaust, held a white sheet of paper over the carbs to see if gas would show up on the paper but it didn't.

Re: 1973 115 Evinrude sneezing

Yes sir,
The boat is idling great, and running great. I got the follwer away from the cam and adjusted a screw with a nut on it I think it is the idle screw. But after the two adjustments it runs like a top. I would like to thank,Dhadley,Basscat1,Walleyhed,fishcakes,moderator1,Walker,Indymike,Solittle,DJ,Laddies and myoutboards. I appreciate all the information and guidence each of you shared with me on this motor. I had doubts that the motor would ever run, I'm glad that you all hung in there with me.
Many, Many, Thanks
hoss123

I just want you all to know I could not have done it with at you. Hey I tell you I was about ready to ship it to any one. I am a pretty decent mechanic on cars, but outboards are a little more complex. I appreciate all the info.
Many Thanks,
hoss123

Hoss I am glad you got it going. You probably want to do a link and synch now. Good luck on the pond and let us know how it does.
