I just bought a 1982 COBALT and I want to properly clean and oil all the teak.

What products and techniques work the best ??

I was told that a lower cost alternative to store bought teak oil would be a batch of 50% baby oil w/ 50% transmission fluid.

Personally, at $22 a board foot, i'd use the teak oil.

Re: Cleaning and oiling teak wood ??

I thought of using teak oil on my boat. Then I came to the realization that I didn't want to apply it several times a year. What I did was sand the teak with 220, just to get the grime off and then applied Interlux Teak Restore. I let that set for a couple days (lived 1hr from where I was working on the boat) I then applied 3 coats of Cetol Natural Teak. You can see some before & after shots here: 1987 Glastron SSV 197
