Any ideas why my Yamaha 150 breaks down at 2800 to3000rpm in the water in gear. I have used a separate fuel tank, changed plugs, clean fuel filter, and carbs. What next?

2 stroke with carburetor or EFI?

Re: 2003 Yamaha 150

A little more info is needed.
A model # is always the best way to let others know what motor is being discussed.
What does motor breaks down mean?

You can always start with compression and spark on all cylinders for basic info. Then timing. A timing light on the different plug wires may show if you are loosing spark at problem RPM.

Check fuel pressure/vacuum with a gauge to see if there is a fuel delivery problem. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=283363

You can use a DVA adapter and DVM to check CDI outputs and inputs for troubleshooting spark problems

Carb problems is still my guess without any more info.
