Need to find a manual but don't know model of motor

I just got a yamaha 7hp outboard motor from a friend. He doesn't know what year and I can't find what year on it anywhere. I believe it is a two stroke since I cannot find and oil reseivor.
Anyone know where to locate an owners manual?
The tab says
yamaha 7A
659 I cant make out the stamp

also the one picture with my hand in it what are those two plugs?

It looks pretty old and it's certainly a 2-stroke.

I have a Yamaha catalog from about 1973 and it lists an 8A which looks similar, 164cc, 50:1 mix, F-N-R etc. (I bought a Yamaha 3.5 around that time and it was still running well when I recently sold it.)

But mine is a Canadian catalog and Yamaha sold outboards in Canada and Europe long before they were imported into the USA. So you may get more luck trying a long time Canadian Yamaha dealer.

its not complex at all.
take your model and seriel number to any yamaha dealer and they can look it up in both the marine technical guide or through the system on the computer.

I looked under the yamaha pub but it only goes back to 1984, I believe that I have a 1973-1975

I don't see any pictures.

With the information available, it was made somewhere between 1973 & 1975.

I don't understand why you started a different thread on the same subject, makes things a bit confusing. Anyway -

I agree with the other poster, it is a 2 stroke and it is pre USA listings. It was made in Japan for the international market. I would suggest that you shoot e-mails off to Canadian and UK yammy dealers and see what happens.

I cannot even find a listing for 7hp, let alone 1973.

As a last resort, you could try looking for mariner 8hp in that era (they did not release a 7hp), they came out of the same factory and are probably identical (although I cannot confirm that for a fact).

It's listed in the link you provided, if you look:

659 1973-1975 7A (JPN)

Which is thew approximate date I already told you in your other thread. No way it could be a 2001 model.

sorry for my dumb questions but this is the first time dealing with outboards.
So now where do I locate a repair manual.
I have already tried the following website and even tried to call them and they had no clue.
