grandpas old 1954 evinrude sport twin 10

i now have my grandpas old sport twin 10 and boat it has not ben in the water since 1974 but it will fire turn over with no problems but i want to get it beck up and runing this is my first boat and i jest want to know what all i should do to get ti dun it holds oil it will start

Yes, read the 'awakening a sleeping outboard' thread. I'm working on a '54 Johnson 10 right now. same engine.

Not quite the same engine - Evinrude didn't make a 10 in 1954. 1956 was the first year that Evinrude had the 10hp model. Got a model number for us?

Ha. Good point. Ok, so I was a little foggy at 3am! But I'm still working on a QD-15. That I know for sure!

Check spark w/a tester first thing! Make sure it'll throw 1/4" lightning bolts, then proceed from there. Lots of people rip functional carbs apart for no reason. If the carb was drained prior to storage, it may be ready to go. I'd get 2 #47 o-rings from the hardware store and just add 'em to the needle jet packing if the old fiber ones don't come out easily. Good luck. Those motors are powerful!
