Hey I need the right rear cast aluminum corner bumper for my 180 SS. I can also use a pair of them from any similar boat. Seems alot of them are similar. If I can't find the parts, I'll just make one. Takes a while, but sometimes ya-gotta-do what ya-gotta-do.
msg me if you have one or both of these parts.
Thanks
Bob

Re: Starcraft parts needed!

Hi guys,
Thanks for the warm welcome. I just bicked up the Project SS180 on Sunday last week. A guy just moved here from Michigan and brought this boat with him to sell.

I am into Auto A/C only, and although knowledgable, don't do any residential or commercial due to licensing here in GA. The avitar is of my 23 Sport Proline - it's dry docked down at the gulf, and the project starcraft SS 180 is for local fresh water family fun only.

Today, I removed somme old wood from dash and gunnel sides, and beginning the replacement process. Luckily, someone already did the floor. I will also be changing out the transom, which doesn't appear to be difficult, but seems like will be lots of time.

I'll contact your bud about the frames.

Thanks!

Re: Starcraft parts needed!

Had my first run in with the previous inhabitants in this boat. Reached up under the front bow bolster on the right side to take off the nut on the back, and a little yellow wimpy looking wasp decided to protect his nest. After that. I sprayed and then found about 20 more of the nests in various locations. Ouch!

LOL Bob I did that last week had to move 2 boats to get one out and found the hornets had decided to start building a nest in the tongue of my Starcraft triler ( fortunately being in the residential/ Commercial end of the AC buis. I always have half a case of spray onhand) . I blasted those suckers into next week the tongue dripped spray fpr 2 days LOL.

This boat has the original Mercury 50 on it. Seems like it might need more? I was considering 4 stroke repowering. It's not about the money - I like cool stuff! I'll have to look at the registration pack the previous owner gave me. He got the boat from his mom, who was original owner. He gave me the original Ads and brochures for boat and mercury engine, original sale receipt, Owners manual, wiring book, and a bunch of other stuff that came with the boat. There is a sticker and some service work orders from "Detroit Marine Sales".

Bob a 50 on an 18'er is a little small ( mind you on these tinnies you dont need as much oooomph as on a glass boat ) . My 16' Jupiter came new with an 80 HP Merc and thts ll she is rated for max.

Bob the 1977 brochure shows 140-150HP on the 18' SS.

I figured that the 50 was a bit light. But that's what came on it as delivered - according to the receipt from original purchase.

Nice boat! Welcome to the club. If you're thinking of repowering I don't think I'd want less than a 90 on there. I think a 90 would do well.
