As TD said,do this first then it is just minor adjustments from there.
Played hell getting mine to idle earlier this year, this helped alot.
A boat motor isn't like a carwhere you can twist a distributor and change the timeing, set the high speed then just turn the idle screw till it idles.
If this doesn't work your low speed jets could be plugged, if one carb is plugged it will act like it wants to idle but won't because only one cylinder is hitting so if setting the timing doesn't get it repost and we will go from there.
