Bought a used motor, seems to start, idle and run strong. There is a ticking noise coming from the engine area when at mid throttle and higher. It's not horrible, but then again doesn't sound normal. Would it be the valve adjustments or something else more common to look for?

Lastly, the plastic bushings are worn out of the tilt/trim pivot rod at the transom allowing the motor to move around on the shaft. I have the bushings. Is it a time consuming job to replace these?

Thanks in advance!

2 strokes do not have valves if your motor is one.

Bushings should not be that hard to replace if the pins come out without a problem

I have never worked on a 50 4 stroke ,but have read that some fuel pumps will make a clicking noise if it is sucking air and is not full of fuel.

Do you know what all maintinance has been done on the motor?

Some one with the proper knowledge or a manual may know if the valve train would cause this if not PPMed
