I have a Firestone 7.5hp boat motor with a
serial # of 13351911
a code # of 133-3-1335
a stock # of 10-A-102 ( looks like 102 )
any help on identifying year maker etc on this motor would be great.
Are parts still available?
Thank you,
Brian

Re: Firestone 7.5 hp please help identify year maker etc please

Welcome to the iboats.com forum. The members here are great and the experts, which I am not, can help you solve any problem. I believe you have a motor built for Firestone by Scott. It looks like a 1950's era Scott to me and I found some info online that seems to confirm that. Your stock number COULD be 10-A-103 instead of 102 which appears to be a 1955 model. The 133xxxxx code cross-references to a 1959 model. Maybe one of the gurus will jump in here and explain it to both of us!

The link below will get you to a free online public library that has lots of manuals saved in pdf format. They have one that covers your motor. While it is not a "factory" manual, it does have information that you might find helpful to perform routine maintenance items and maybe even some heavier maintenance.

LOGIN as directed and then drill down to: Small Engine, Marine/Boat Motors, McCulloch, Scott 7-1/2 HP (1955-1959) and Condensed Service Data. There is a Firestone file also with some model number data under the Parts procurement header.

Good luck with that great old motor!

It is a 1953, identified by the 1335 in the code number. Reverse the last two numbers (35) and you get 53----1953. The 13 part identifies it as a Firestone 7.5hp made by Scott-Atwater. Refer to Scott-Atwater model number 3335 for parts, service, etc.

Parts are not easy to find, you have to hunt for them.

I like the cool almond seed shape of the '53.

F_R to the rescue one more time. Helps to know all the "secret stuff" like reversing the last two digits. Thanks again!

acmeoutboards.com has a Scott-Atwater service manual on CD that fits your motor, and all models between 1946 and 56.

Re: Firestone 7.5 hp please help identify year maker etc please

I have just acquired this same engine and found the same info on the model year and maker. I am seriously considering rebuilding mine. I got it with an old 1970 14' Jon boat that I purchased last week. I got this old thing out on the river and fired it up. It ran like a top for about 2-3 minutes and then sputtered and shut down. I fired it back up and it ran for a few seconds then shut down again. I tried to fire it again but when I pulled on the rope it seemed like it was locked up. I tryed once more and it loosened back up and tryed to fire but nothing. I then took it out on the reservoir yesterday and decided to monkey with it again and it did the same thing, ran for a couple minutes then shut down and the same stuff all over again. If anyone has any suggestions please shoot them my way.
