It seems like I set the engine free (besides the bolts that hold it in place)

The size of the engine opening perplexed me even more today. I don't think I can take the engine out if it's being pulled out level. I'm thinking to connect the hoist hook to this hole:

That will allow the engine to come out at an angle.

I have one of those guys. I bought it from walmart (just as Mickyryan said) 10 years ago...
May be I can mount it on the gantry along with the chain hoist. Connect the electric winch to the front of the engine, and the hoist to the back of the engine. Then I can adjust the angle of the engine as I am taking it out.

Does anyone know how the weight of the engine is distributed? Is it more weight on the front?

its pretty even but put chain with a connector through front eye then back eye then put hook into about 3/4 of thet chain and you will pull engine out at proper angle like 35 to 45 degrees front coming first

Yanked mine today. Come along worked perfect. Just go slow a couple cranks at a time. Not too hard.

Here are some photos.

3 of the 4 of the bearings are melted. All the main bearings are good.

It seems like nothing else is damaged.

It seem that the crankshaft does not need to be machined. Just needs cleaning. What is the best way to clean it?

Where can I purchase a gasket set? I know that it is sold here, but how do I find the right set? We did not remove the head nor the top cover.

Can someone send a link where to buy a gasket set and bearings?

Vak At the very least you need to mic the crank shaft what about the cam bearings? If you half ass this it will be coming back out again when it fails. Please do this the right way!

The crank needs a machine shop. Don't halfway it. Same with cam shaft. Assume damaged until proven otherwise by a machinist. Lots less costly than slapping it together. All it takes is one bearing to get spun and there you go again.

Ayuh,.... As noted above, in a crankshaft machine, at a machine shop,....

You'd be better off to have the machinist assemble the long block, then you can put the rest of it together,....

The local machine shop gave it a cleaning for $60 and slow me a set of bottom gaskets and bearings for $140.

I need is a sterndrive gasket and exhaust manifold gasket. Am I forgetting anything else?

What should I watch out for while putting everything back together?

Somebody's gotta pay the rent here at iboats,....

Any, 'n All the gaskets, 'n parts ya need are available here at iboats, at least in the Sierra brand, possibly Oem parts,....
