1976 evinrude power pilot

Hello folks, i had the replace the ignition switch on my 1976 power pilot. when i took it apart there is a detent spring and ball bearing that came out.It seems to kinda lock the throttle in forward, neutral, or reverse. I replaced the ignition switch but cant figure out how to get the spring and ball back in place. Any advice would be much appreciated. THANKS

There should have been a small metal plate covering the spring and ball, held in place by one screw.
