I bought my first boat late last year that has a Johnson 20 hp outboard. The guy I bought it from did not know the year but says it is a short shaft. He also said he switched the motor cover from a 9.9 hp so he could fish 10 hp or less lakes. There are no model numbers that I've been able to find (tags missing) but I do have the number off the welsh plug - J2829505. The few parts numbers I did find indicate it's from mid to late 60's. I'd like to know the year and model as I would like to order a couple of parts so any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated. I've included pics of the motor so hopefully someone will be able to assist me. Thanks for taking the time to look.
