I have a bass buggy pontoon boat with the 60 hp evinrude vro motor on it. I can cruise all day at speeds below 3800 rpms, but when I push it up the motor runs good for about 5 to 7 minutes then chugs, stays running, but chugs. Going back to idle does not fix the problem as the engine will continue to chug at any rpm once the chugging starts. I shut the motor off for 30 seconds, fire it back up, and she'll run all day at speeds below 3800. A friend suggested the vro pump going bad and that I should mix my gas and oil rather than rely on the pump. I have done this and still have the problem. I'm also only getting 4500 rpms tops out of it before the chugging starts.Any suggestions?
