That is a 10hp Johnson model number, not an Evinrude Fastwin. So you need to figure out what you really have. Perhaps somebody has swapped the stern bracket and data plate?? A picture with the hood off would help.
mf81, Welcome to iBoats.
You need to have 3 posts to upload pictures. Just make another post ( even just 'bump' this one) and you will be able to post. Here is a tutorial on posting photos. The best way is to get a free photobucket account. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/forum...pload-tutorial
I can not say for sure but in your second photo, it looks like some red paint is showing through. Where the gearcase meets the exhaust housing. Do you have a photo of the hood also?
Yep, it is an Evinrude Fastwin, NOT a QD, which is a Johnson 10hp. Look on the gearshift side of the powerhead, between the two bypass covers and cylinder head. See that painted-over round disc? The real model & serial number will be stamped on that.
QD17 would be a 1956 Johnson 10hp. Looks like an Evinrude powerhead, as the bumpers are on the side for a cowl which opens side to side. The Johnson cowl opens front to back. Someone probably swapped the stern bracket from a Johnson. Looks like a 1957 or 58 18hp.
