  • Photo Upload Tutorial

There are several different ways to post photos on iBoats. I'm going to show you three of the most common. Options 1 & 2 are the most consistent options.

NOTES: new forum members must make 3 posts to the forum before they can upload photos. iBoats will only upload JPEG, JPG, GIF & PNG files. Your file size must be below 700KB in order to upload it to the forum. Linked files (option #3) do not have a size restriction.

OPTION #1 - THE PHOTO ICON:

In the upper left of the editor there is an icon that looks like a camera:

Name:	iBoats Photo 01.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	76.4 KB
ID:	221413

Two options will appear at the bottom of the editor:

Name:	iBoats Photo 02.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	99.8 KB
ID:	221414

Clicking on "UPLOAD" will take you into a window asking you to choose the file you wish to upload. Navigate to your photo and select it. You may also select from photos you've already uploaded to iBoats by clicking the "SELECT FROM PHOTO ALBUM" button (see red arrow above). When you click that button you will see your album displayed:

Name:	iBoats Photo 03.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	107.0 KB
ID:	221415

Check the box of the image you would like to insert, and click continue.

You will get another box that gives you the opportunity to type in some text about the photo:

Name:	iBoats Photo 05.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	56.4 KB
ID:	221419

Type your description and then click continue. Your photo will be placed into the post, and you can click post.

This type of upload will give you the result of a smaller image in your post, that viewers can click it will expand to full size. Like so:

OPTION #2 - THE PICTURE ICON IN THE ADVANCED EDITOR:

Activate the advanced editor by clicking on the "A" button on the right (next to the smiley icon). It will expand the advanced options. Click on the photo icon:

Name:	iBoats Photo 06.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	81.9 KB
ID:	221420

When you click that button, a dialogue will come up for you to select the photo: Click on the UPLOAD tab and then click on CHOOSE FILE / BROWSE (red arrow below):

Name:	iBoats Photo 07.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	53.9 KB
ID:	221421

Once you click on that button, you can navigate to your photo. Once you've selected your photo, you need to hit SEND IT TO THE SERVER:

Name:	iBoats Photo 08.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	55.0 KB
ID:	221422

The photo will then embed itself into the post like so:

Name:	03_stern.jpg
Views:	2
Size:	26.2 KB
ID:	221411

This photo displays at full size, and is now available in the photo album mentioned in the first post (OPTION #1).

OPTION #3 - Photo hosting service (like Flickr, Google Photos, Imgbb, etc.):

I'm showing the interface from Photobucket in these screen shots, but any hosting service will give you the same link data.

NOTE: As of JULY 2017 Photobucket has changed their terms of service, and is limiting or stopping 3rd party image hosting. Some of our members have been substantially effected. There are other options available besides Photobucket, and the link process is the same as posted here.

Members should be aware that 3rd party hosts can change their terms of service at any time and stop your ability to link images to this forum.

Open a web page to your online album, and then find the linking options. In Photobucket, it's the chain icon at the top above the images:

Name:	iBoats Photo 09.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	44.9 KB
ID:	221423

When you click that a dialogue will come up, and you want to click the box to get the image CODE:

Name:	iBoats Photo 10.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	107.5 KB
ID:	221424

Copy that image code (in Photobucket, clicking copies it automatically - otherwise, highlight the code and copy [CTRL+C]). Then you can paste (CTRL+V) it into the editor window on your iBoats post:

Name:	iBoats Photo 11.jpg
Views:	1
Size:	132.2 KB
ID:	221425

The result will be an embedded image, like so:
