Question about says it all. Last fall we bought a very cheap, very well worn Livingston fiberglass dinghy. We are currently in the process of scraping/sanding many layers of peeling paint off the hull. Then we need to do some epoxy patches, and finally repaint.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I agree with bond-o but i would add the key to a good paint job is ALL in th Prep. Prep typically takes 4 times longer than the actual painting. Clean the glass with a good TSP wash down and then a final Acetone Wash. Then a final sand with 180 grit. Final wash down with Acetone. Two Coats of Rustoleum Industrial Primer with Wetsanding of 220 grit. Tack cloth wipe down then Three light coats of Roll and Tip paint or Spray paint and it will yield great results that will last a LONG time.

I'm just sayin...:D

It really depends on how much you want to spend ;) .

If money is no object then Awl-grip,Sterling,Imron or Awcraft2000 IMHO is the Best of the best marine paint.

The inside of a livingston is not smooth, you can see and feel the woven fiberglass, and therefore will never be able to sand it smooth because of the unevenness. See pictures. How would you prep something like that?
