Wood, I’ve been coating my jonboat transom (fir exterior plywood) with OTF. I have four coats on the surface and eight on the edges and it still acts like a desiccated sponge. How many coats should I expect to apply before the straight spar varnish?
Cheers

Usually 3-4 coats of OTR and then 3-4 coats of full strength Spar Varnish and you'll be good to go.

The workshop is a Pole Barn. 24x32x10. 6x6 posts, 8ft on center. Girts at bottom, 30", 60", 90", and 120" . One 9ft garage door, 4 windows and one 36" walkin door. The top Rail shown is the actual top of the eves. Posts will be cut off. My town WON'T allow metal sided buildings so I had to use the HardiePanel. I like it so, wasn't a big deal for me. MONEY IS a problem but...I worked hard for 68 years soooo, I said LIFE is to short and I used some of the retirement money to "Git Er Done! If I outlive the money, I'll live in the Blue Flamingo I Guess!!!

Here's day two progress

looks great so far, make sure you include a good beam for pulling engines:)

What I do for that is. Doubled 2x4's wedged under a Roof truss and a Thru Eyebolt for the Block and Tackle. Lifted my 85hp Johnson with ease. Before that I used the header of my Garage door with a 8" lag eyebolt screwed into it. That worked too.

WooHoo!!!! Poured the floor for my new workshop today. Just Barely dodged the rain but it's in and all is well. Should be totally done by next Friday. I'm getting excited. Will have lots of work on the inside but...Plenty of room and no more 2 car garage. I was really regretting moving away from my old shop but this one is bigger and better.

Yeah but...they're standing up on the north side!!!! 4ft of Fill!!!! Lots more to come around the outside edge. Lot was NOT EVEN close to being level. It'll be like driving up Pikes Peak to get in the thing!:grumpy: I wanted to put it on the south side of the lot but...Septic System Lateral lines were there! Once i'm inside...I won't Care!!!:D Sure hope the company gets the Trusses done by Monday so we can get them up and the Roof on Tuesday. If so...should be done by Thursday or Friday.
