Picked up an old Jupiter from a junkyard. It's beat up pretty bad so I decided to go tiller with it. I fish the St. Clair River and Lake St. Clair. Might start doing the Detroit River too.

The boat boneyard on Grosse Isle.

Transom is rotted, windshield broken, deck is soft, and she's skinned from someone trying to move her with a hi-lo. The rub rail is bent up and the vinyl insert torn.

yes sir, 2 handlines. 3 guys one cap'n and 2 guys pulling wire. Fill the fish box naives. lol.

Actually I went to the "Ultimate Fishing Show" a couple of weeks ago and looked at the new Lunds. I'm going to pretty much copy the Fury 1600 tiller layout. Saw an 18 footer at the show for a mere $63,000:eek:. I'll have less than 2k in mine and it will be the bomb. This is my third tinnie and I have some skills now. Thanks to the mob.

:laser:This is from Zach. Why, cause who doesn't like a laser!

I'm still itching a week later buddy. The night mares have finally subsided. But I saved a tinnie, so it was worth it.

Tagging along. We have a Jupiter that is in my line of projects to be restored. Its interior was totally gutted when I got it so It is basically a clean slate.

On the rub rail channel a little heat and gentle persuasion might do the trick.

I could probably get it to come back. There are large chunks of the aluminum missing. I would need to braze it and sand it back to shape. The vinyl is torn up pretty bad.

Option 1;
Fix aluminum rubrail and find a replacement vinyl insert.
Option 2.
???
Option 3.
???
I would like to have 3 options on this. (if possible)

Tag along Strat, I've got a vision for this boat.

Yah, what a bummer on your rub rail channel, super important piece right there.

I don't think it will be easy but I believe WM probably has the best option.

Another option would be to buy all new channel and all new insert, BIG money.

Can I just get the insert? I'll straighten and braze the aluminum. The vinyl is really rough though.

Somewhere in here, I think someone posted a suitable replacement insert, but I dont recall who. IIRC, it was not inexpensive.....
