I had been looking at boat that was priced at $1100. It is an ugly yellow. The sign changed to $500 firm. Needless to say, I called and looked at the boat. The Kid selling it needed some help lowering his caffiene intake and a couple lessons on manners. The boat was full of junk and nothing was where it should have been. Looks like he started tearing things apart to restore it. He did do a nice job on the engine but lacks skills with taking the work further. He could not produce a registration or proof of ownership for the trailer and he never registered the boat. All of which causes major headaches with the DMV in NY State. So I let him know I have the cash and he almost begins to salivate. My girl friend worked at the DMV and was able to help me get every form needed to register the boat and the trailer. Of course this all caused extra paper work which heighten the toddler's anxiety. It took 5 hours for a simple transaction. But all is done and the boat sits in my side yard. I cleaned it tonight and removed an enormous amount of crap.

On the upside, I found some amazing original pieces of equipment. Or at least to the time period of the boat. I know need State Police to view the trailer and come to the conclusion that there is no readable ID for it. At which point, I bring it to a weigh station and obtain a new VIN # for it. Tedious activity but doable. Now for the boat. The registration says 19' 1968 star craft. It measures out to 18' and I can't identify the model. Now I'm not usre of year or model. In my research I came across this site and find it amazing.

I need to to learn how to do the following,
Pll floor out
what to use to replace the floor including new foam baords and what one to use
What potential additional add-on can be done
Adding cabin or turning into cuddy?
How to find and install gas tanks, Can I install inboard tank like a car has a gas tank or am I stuck with old style portables?
Engine is 6 single, Do I need to use lead additive or two sycle in the fuel.
I wouldn't think it would need two cycle and would burn just fuel.
How to check mechinals of engine, Out drive, and Prop
Which props should I use?
Probablly more then I can think off.
Re-apolstering seats or purchasing seats
Obtaing new key to original instrument cluster.

I'll be attaching photos once I figure out how.

Thanks

awesome.

couple things:

first one most importantly - WHAT STATE ARE YOU IN so when someone needs DMV help we can call you out. Oh - and marry her so she'll stay around a bit longer...:D

Your call but I'd post for a mod to move this to the Starcraft forum. There are specialists there

Help with pics. Most of us prefer #3 option as it gives bigger pics and file size is not an issue. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/forum...pload-tutorial

Lastly, welcome to the forum.

Is the mod for modification of the boat or of this conversation. How do I go about doing that? I am in New York.

The boat is a 18' Imperial V I/O. I found a stamp that I was able to get a tracing of the boat name, ID plate, Size, Capacity of 1700 lbs. So many original items...

wow bad internet.

For notifying moderators to be moving to the SC forum where there are specialists in SC versus general boats. Are you new to forums as well? That will help us interpret you as well. No worries.

and we'll remember NY.. :)

Theres a sub-forum of Starcraft rebuilds.
http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owners-groups-by-manufacturer/s/starcraft-boats

Joe was suggesting you ask a Mod (moderator) to move it if you'd like.

Totally up to you, chronical the rebuild here in the resto forum, or over in the Starcraft. Either way, nice boat

Welcome to iboats

If you'd like it moved, just reply that you do. We'll move it, no need to start a new topic....

This is my first forum. I'm also taking first online Classes. A moderator gave me a link to the SC forum from a post about Identifying my motor.

Welcome to the forums and congrats on the new boat. Where in NY are you? I'm on Long island. This is a great site with tons of helpful people. Within a few months you will be a pro here. The acronyms were the toughest for me. Everyone here is super helpful so just ask away. Even if it is a computer question, you will probably get the answer. Welcome aboard.

Good to know this is your first forum. We'll try not to speak the lingo too much. And seriously if something you dont know, type it into a google seach and most times you will find the answer. Or just ask.

You do want them to use the lingo. I sometimes laugh out loud when I figure out what they are saying. Like solving a jumble or something. The acronym "IIRC" Gave me fits. Not really easy to figure out because it is just placed in front of a thought and hard to put into context. At least it was for me for some reason." if I read correctly". That was the toughest one for me. Sorry for ruining your fun on that one.

The boat is fiberglass. I searched the archives at SC and did not see a listing for the Imperial V I/O. I appreciate all the input. Thanks for the suggestion Redneck Joe about moving to SC forum. I think I will move to SC forum so that I might get some specialization.

Can you move this thread to SC forum for me? I appreciate all the help. Thank you JBCurt00.

My location is Upstate NY in little town call Constantia. On most weqther maps you can see a small lake call Onieda Lake. I am on north shore near the middle.

Oops, I can move this for you, but 99% of the SCs being documented in the SC forum are tin not fiberglass.

For glass work, you'll likely get lots more help here in the resto forum.

Apologies foe the suggestion to move it. But it can still be moved if you wish.

Read thru some tin boat topics in the SC forum and decide if you want it moved.

Be aware, they use the term

Donor boat

Fairly often.

I am kinda close to Onieda. My camp is on Pecks Lake which is east of you and just west of the great sacandaga. Probably a bit over an hour away.
