The wife and I are heading to Vegas at the end of the month for our 20th Anniversary. Neither of us have been there before, so I need a little advice from those of you familiar with the place. We have flights and a nice suite booked for the week, but I'm looking for a place to take her for dinner on our anniversary. Something not super expensive with a nice atmosphere. We're staying on the strip, and are not renting a car. I have no problem taking a cab if necessary.

I'd like to stay under $150 if possible. No seafood places as the wife is allergic.

I've searched the internet, and have a couple of ideas, but there's no substitute for real world experience.

If any of you could offer any suggestions/ideas I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!

Doug

Try Yoli's Brazilain steak house. been years since I've been there, but it was nice. It's close to the strip, off Paradise as I remember. I don't have much else to offer, but a lot of the casino's have very nice steak houses. Some of them (the good ones usually) are ala carte, but sometimes it's worth it.

For lunch I thoroughly enjoy Gordon Ramsey's Burger restaurant.

If you see any shows....go to the Tix4Tonight booth at like 10am when they open. You can usually get a dinner deal with the tickets (i.e. 20% off your meal for $3 with show tickets) You can also buy monorail tickets there too for 1/2 price.....which is a GREAT way to get up and down the strip quickly for shows or meals.

You will VERY quickly learn that if something looks close enough to walk to, it is probably going to take you forever. Its hard to gauge distance on the strip, and even if it is close the crossover walkways that go above the street take awhile and are always under construction.

Make sure you catch a Bellagio water show at night........preferably with a glass of wine or a nice stiff drink.

You can pick the nicest restaurant in any casino for a very unique dining experience. And, I'm not talking her to the buffets.

Well, let me say the Mandalay Bay has an incredible buffet with real prime rib (not choice rib) and King Crab Legs (not snow crab legs.) Bellagio also has a great buffet.

It's been 3 years since we went to Vegas, Yosemite, San Fran., Monterrey and the Coast Hwy (US 1). About time to go back to Vegas.

If you've not seen it - and it's not gone downhill (it's been several years since I've seen it) - the Blue Man Group was one of the most entertaining and clever shows I've ever seen. I'm not a big fan of Vegas, but wind up out there every few years on business. Humorously, I've only really been to a couple of restaurants and the range is either the "burger" type or buffet joints or Charlie Palmers - nuthin' in between :)

Thanks for the tips everyone. I really appreciate the responses.

fishrdan, their website concerns me. Says "please contact our billing department". Hmmm...not sure what to think. We still may check it out once we get there. Billing

Pony, great tips. Thanks. Had heard of a discount ticket place, but now I know the name. We plan on a Bellagio water show...one at night and possibly another during the day sometime.

Bamaman1, we plan on some buffets. I've heard all of them at the major casinos are awesome. Just didn't want that on the actual night of our anniversary.

southkogs, we have a Blue Man Group concert DVD. They are entertaining...I will certainly say that. Not sure what shows we'll see yet.

toneeees, thanks. That might just be the place. A little bit more than I planned on spending perhaps, but the view would be completely worth it. I'll try and book a table around sunset.

Any other travel tips woud be welcomed! Thanks!

Re: Vegas baby! Need a little tourist help

Been quite a while since I was in Vegas ... Always drove up to Mead and rented a boat ... That was the highlight of my stays ...

Had a friend who, while we were standing in line to check in at the MGM Grand, walked over to the dime machine (late 80's), put in 5 dimes, pulled the lever, and won $10,000. Wired it home to his wife. Next year (we went every year for the new car announcement with Oldsmobile) we were standing line to check in and this time he has his wife and kids with him. He says to them, that is the machine and this is what I did ... He walks over to same machine, puts in 5 dimes, and hits the $10,000 jackpot! I hated him! LOL!

I have also eaten here a couple of times N9NE Steakhouse - Steakhouse in Las Vegas | Palms Casino Resort and it was great.....but is a little pricier than you were looking for. The Ribeye was INSANELY good.

Not all of the buffets are good. The RIO buffet is my favorite, but it has quite a bit of seafood. The Flamingo buffet was horrible....I have had a better buffet at random chain restaurants.

I also really liked the buffet at the Mirage and have heard really good things about the buffet at the Cosmopolitan.

That will be the extent of my comments, and it wasn't my comment.
