I recently sold my boat, but looking for something to fish off of that is simple. It must be stable to stand and walk around in ( I realize space is limited), and I would like it to be dry as possible in a small chop (Galveston Bay, 1-2'). Down to a Takacat 380/420 model probably with a 20hp as weight is same as a 10hp, or a Sea Eagle FSK 16 with a 6hp. I recognize the Sea Eagle will be slower with a smaller motor, but also lighter to move the motor around. Both boats are about the same weight although the Takacat comes in 2 bags to distribute the weight better.
Anyone go down this rabbit hole? Which is drier and more stable? I definitely need a Bimini of some sort for this Texas heat. It is mostly just me fishing on it (185 pounds) although sometimes a friend will come ( perhaps a little heavier) or one of my kids.
I have a boat slip with a jet dock, or I can deflate it each time.
Ride and stability and fishability are the big factors for me along with reliability.
Thanks!

I can’t comment on the Takacat 380/420 but I can on the FKS 16. It’s very stable and with my 6hp Mercury I top out at 16 mph. The new ones are lighter than mine. Mine is 99lbs. I think the new ones are around 82lbs. And they have a 1765lbs weight capacity which was huge for me. I figured the more weight capacity the more stable. You will definitely need the two stage pump which is really nice. I use a 10lb mushroom anchor which works well.

Any more updates to this ? What is the draft of the fsk 16? I will add the true kit into the mix. Looking for something that is easy to launch and fairly dry.

My FKS16 is very stable in the wind and choppy water. Will you get wet some in very choppy water? Yea but like any other boat that sets low on the water. I can go in 6” of water. Stand up and walk around, stand up and cast. Very stable!
