Re: Russian bomber jets resume Cold War sorties

Here we go again.

I can't say that i'm surprised by Russia's not so new strategic foreplay, neither is the US defense dept.

Russia has been making a lot of waves in the past couple of years; now that they're pulling as much $$$, possibly even more than the Saudi's from their expanding energy exports.

"Another Foreign policy strategy of this misadministration"

Exactly what strategy are you referring to, TD? None is mentioned in the article.

Are you inventing another "it's Bush's fault" lie?

Let me guess.. Missle defense. I say build it anyway. The logic of our "allies" that oppose this baffles me.

They want to preserve their ability to attack us to maintain good relations. Whaa?

I could see them complaining about offensive capabilties, but defensive capabilities are just being prudent.

Russia is a strained ally. Their friends, probably better friends, are our enemies.. Iran.. China ( I consider them an enemy due to ideology).. and others. They are only friends with us because they have to be. They would like nothing better than to see us go under like they did.

The attitude of the original post is one of acting like a turtle. That we need to pull our heads into our shell and hope the car doesn't run us over.

I?m referring to the administrations plan to place elements of its missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic. According to Lieutenant General Henry Obering, chief of the US Missile Defense Agency their only purpose would be to counter a perceived growing threat from Iran.

That would b like the Russians putting missiles in Cuba and Mexico. How would that go over here? All this while we are fighting a two front war that is draining the treasury. Now that Russia has some oil money they are not quite the economic basket case that they were in the old Soviet days, as a matter of fact one could say Iraq is putting us in the same category as the soviets were. Then the lame statement that the US is putting them there be cause of a perceived threat form Iran is ludicrous.

< Are you inventing another "it's Bush's fault" lie? > Nope Bush is doing fine by himself.

The absurdity of this statement invalidates everything else you've said.

Why is it ?absurd? to think that putting a missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic to protect Europe From Iran, and North Korea? To me that tells me a lot about your thought process.

Especially when Air Force Lieutenant General Henry Obering, director of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency has acknowledged there is currently no long-range Iranian missile threat.

Missile defense is an entirely different thing than offensive thermo nuclear missiles, TD. Anything that can destroy a missile in transit can sure as hell vaporize a Bear if the need arises.

If Russia wants to cruise international airspace in grossly obsolete aircraft, so what? I can't imagine why a lib would care except to look for a way to criticise my country.

If Poland and the Czech Republic want missile defense to protect them from whomever I see no problem with supplying same. Bringing that off topic in to this thread is soooooo far fetched.

Jeeez! Now I am beginning to worry about what might become of us after 2008. If I am lucky I won't live long enough to see what people who think like that would do to us.

JB - rest assured that the Dems have a better plan. They keep saying they do and that's good enough for me. It seems that they're too busy flinging mud at the current administration to share the finer details - like what it is and how it will be accomplished - you know, the minutia.

Most are not pleased with the result of the current administration's effort BUT this displeasure allows too many to be satisfied with vague promises of impossible solutions to impossible problems. The one comfort I can find in this administration's response to terrorism is that it exists. However flawed it may be, it is a significant improvement over the last administration - but of course I'm just digging up the past in pointing that out...

With the right to criticize comes the responsibility to offer a better alternative. We're hearing the criticism and nothing of substance about the better alternative they claim to have.

Politicians play on the voter's emotions because this is a better strategy than appealing to the voter's reasoning abilities. This speaks volumes about the average voter and that's the real shame of it all.

Your right JB none was mentioned in the article, I was assuming that and perhaps erroneously, everybody would know that I was referring to the missile defense system .In my opinion the Russians would not be flying over Quam, if President Bush wasn’t trying to put that system on his back door to protect Europe from Iran and N. Korea.

Typical lib, can't do anything good on his own... it's cute that he needs OMR to be his role model.

Re: Russian bomber jets resume Cold War sorties

What really pisses me off is Clinton passed that nuclear proliferation whatever act that made us destroy a bunch of our nukes, when it was proven beyond the shadow of a doubt that all Russia did was move theirs around to make us think they got rid of them.

Now they have more than we do. I don't like not having the upper hand.

Anybody for a nuclear tax? Maybe the demwits and repubs can get together on this, the demwits never saw a tax they didn't like and the repubs never saw a nuke they didn't like, so lets get together and pass a tax to rebuild our nuclear arsenal. I bet ol' dubbya'd pass a nucular tax!

Cold war 07 baby, bring it on.

Do ya think ol' Johnnyrude r' I mean ol' Murky is negative about our Great Country Mr. Tree? :D JR

I've never said you were but Mikes' post seemed to point that way, but now that I reread it I guess he is frustrated you defend the current dim wit Democrats. That doesn't frustrate me at all Mr. Tree, I enjoy debatin' you, n' I do find it surprizin' that you vote fer, (guess I don't know how you actually vote), n' defend Dems now that I've engaged you fer a while n' found you fairly thoughtful poster.

You just may like to debate people n' I usually hammer dim wit Dems n' Libs n' you jus' may feel obliged to resist the plain common sense facts logic n' history I spew, (don't think I've ever called you a Lib as like me Bro you are hard to pin down with all yer kitchen sink internet stuff you pull from here and there n' nearly everywhere).

Current Dems n' Libs do want to raise taxes, (at least they say that n' vote that way all the time), n' want us to suffer a humiliatin' defeat in Iraq (as they caused in 1975 in Vietnam). The Current Dem party seems ta luv to have elected party members with criminal records, n' tolerate all sorts of immoral stuff I wouldn't tollerate in any elected official Right or Left. That said: I kinda like yer posts, although I rarely agree with them, but you even said you actually do agree with some of me carp, (musta been a weak moment I guess). Respectfully, JR ps, ya want me to model Rubber's booty shorts fer ya?
