Raising Tow Points

My new boat (well, new to me) has the transom loops mounted fairly low - only about 6" above waterline with 4 people in the boat. This causes a lot of rope dragging when I pull tubers.

I understand that a tripod is not safe for pulling tubes, so I'd like to mount new hooks up higher. My boat is a '98 Sea Ray 175 with an outboard. There's a built in swim step on each side, so there's not much room left on the transom itself above the current loops. If I mount new ones above the swim steps, the rope harness will be in the middle of the boarding area. The only other place seems to be to the sides (still on the stern) . Assuming I can get up in there, is the fiberglass thick enough there to support u-bolts -with a backing plate, of course- as tow points?

Sorry I have no idea how to get a photo up here.

I am not sure that moving the tow points up that far is going to make any difference in rope drag. I have a 185 sport and my tow point is above the swim deck and i still get a lot of rope drag with towables. If you really want to fix the rope drag you might want to look into an elevated ski pole or even one of the wake towers that are rated for tubes.

I have a tripod. It locks in at all 3 points. Is this strong enough to pull a tube with 2 riders?

The simpler answer would be to get one of the inflatable tow line balls. It rides part-way down the line to keep the rope afloat. Much less fuss, no permanent holes in the transom, no danger of using a tripod ski pole with a tube.

First, about nagging. We do associate this term with a woman. I once asked a friend, a professor in sociology, why men pour their frustration on the women in their lives. Why can't men accept the fact that a woman wants out of a relationship, beating and killing them. In short, why can't some men behave like... a man..

His reply was that, for most of us, our mothers are the first disciplinarians in our lives. We associate the first time that we were scolded, or punished, with a voice of a woman, a presence of a woman, a scent of a woman, even.

Yes, we all go through life developing liking and disliking of individuals because they remind us of someone. After all, may like and dislike Clinton and Obama (and McCain) for some affinity or distaste in our own past. This is part of life, part of politics. And I thought it was quite brave for that DUer to say that if his mom were a black man he would have disliked Obama..

A weak argument, I will accept it.
