I just bought a Zodiac Futura MKII C from 1995 and with a Yamaha 20hp 2-stroke from 1995. The propeller is 9 7/8" x 12". The propeller is not in perfect shape, but seems quite ok.

The boat only makes 20-21 knots (GPS) with one person. I expected more from this boat. The engine seems to rev a lot, so im thinking of buying a 9 7/8" x 14" propeller instead. Thats the "biggest" Yamaha prop for this engine. Is this to much prop for the 20hp engine with this boat?

Now the boat go one plane easy with 3 people, probably makes it ok with 4 people to.

Anyone tried the "Ultra Fin FX" on a Futura? Good or bad results?

Re: Propeller question, Zodiac Futura

you should be more concerned as to what the rpms, are at wide open throttle, not speed. having the proper wot rpms, lengthens the life of the motor. going to a higher pitch prop will effect you hole shot, (slower, harder on the motor) buy might pickup a mile of 2 per hour. foils usually cause more problems, than they fix.
