Re: New boat owner too

I have removed the drive. I am hoping to have the motor out this weekend. Looks like buying a running motor is going to be less expensive than a rebuild. (intake, carb. on and on) Going to replace drive too. Want something newer than 70's. I need to replace the transom. Going to fill in whole in the stern for the new drive.

Good to see you're on your way..... Once you get the motor out and the out-drive off, mark it, tag it, and put it all aside. The parts from it might help you finance other things you are going to need. Take your time, no road race here...... The next step is... exploratory surgery With everything out of your way, you will be able to see the core of the transom.Once a good diagnosis of it's condition is made, The good folks here will help you devise a plan to get your paeient back to good health.

Thank you for the replies. The 1969 pictures do look like her. I have removed, cleaned and got the carbs. unfrozen.(seafoam, 3-1 oil, steelwool). Replaced rotor cap, rotor, points, plug wires and plugs. New battery. Going to recheck gaps, clean the ground to the engine mount today. I did squirt oil in the plug holes before I turned the motor over.
Here is a link to the boat. I count figure out how to copy the pictures.

Bought an other boat today. 1974 Silverline with 140 hp that purrs like a cat. Going to run this boat until transom is fixed in the mfg. Then pull the motor and drop it into the mfg.
