Merc experts

The connecting rods on my motor are stamped 638-8532 and calls for a 777-9009T13 piston. What is the difference between that piston and the 777-815965T4 piston? The latter of the two is more readily available, and iboats carries them, but iboats does not carry the other piston. Are they interchangeable?

The 777-9009T13 is 3 ring the latter is 2 ring

All you have to worry about is top guided or bottom guided rods. You can't have both on the same rod. You could mix 3 ring and 2 ring pistons in the same engine if you wish.
