Assembled parts from West Marine ( oil pump & fitting) 9$ Rural king.. Pressure gauge 5$ 1/8" mpt schrader valve( in water well stuff) and 1/4 MPT to 5/16 barbed fitting. Other fittings I had in the shop.

Gauge range might be a little big, but for 5$.....

Looks great. It's always good to see people's ingenuity. Now for the test results.

I made one similar, but have not tried it yet. What would be the proper pressure for mercury and Honda outboards. We have a few outboards with potential problems and need to be checked before putting into service this year.

Just made mine the other day as well, all from amazon prime for pretty cheap.

and this is what I ordered
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 <- gauge for both vacuum and pressure, with hose and T fitting
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 <- bike tire schrader valves. Came with like 20 of them
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 <-lube pump with metal fitting

about $30 if you have amazon prime.

The better news is as you can see I'm holding 11psi, and that is post impeller change. I tried to use a new quad ring from my sierra kit but what a POS. I could hear the air escaping with it in place, went to an OEM seal and the leak was gone. Thank god I pressure tested it.

Won't be pressure testing for a bit, upon disassembly found the driveshaft pinion bearing to be noisy and sloppy. Upper bearing race looks like it has been run a bit hot. Will tear into and decide what is next. I know a good donor boat for sale cheap near me.May just swap the lower out.

I would have picked a gauge that didn't go up to 60 PSI since you won't be putting more than 15 PSI in. Going to be harder to see the gauge dropping.

I know it's backwards but any issue pressure testing AFTER putting in the new oil?

Am aware, will probably swap it out, was the only gauge I could find that night. Hope to need it soon.

I can never find the fitting in metal, all I ever come across is plastic, the rest is easy. Plastic does hold low pressure though.
Thanks!

So I swapped in the lower end from the donor boat after draining lube and flushing. changed out the water pump also. Reassembled and hooked up the pressure tester. end result is the kit worked great and the outdrive held pressure. The range on the gauge was not an issue, although I will be swapping to a more suitable range gauge when I find the right deal on one. I really have a better feeling about the outdrive after pressure checking, used to be add oil and hope there is not a leak. Confidence is higher for getting back in the water.

Dumb question, but the pump is just to pump lube and you're pressurizing this with a bicycle pump or something, right?
