Will the upper driven gears from a gen1 fit gen2? I was sure the g2 has a different lower gear for the different seals - G1 uses large and small seal, G2 uses 2 small seals -

I have a gen 1 upper mated to a 1980 model lower, and need to put in 1.84 gears for a 3.8L merc 17/19 tooth-. No SN on upper-it was a magnum 350, just need to swap gears..

If i scoot along from 1980 to 1990-1995, they list the same part number for the gears except for the A2 and A3 suffix? Will they fit?

This listing shows it will fit but wanted to be sure-

Kinda contradictory, you ask if alpha one gears will fit in a gen 2 but state you have an alpha one upper on an mc1 lower?

Either way, no the gear sets for mc1/R/MR/Alpha One are not the same as gen 2 gears.

FYI part numbers you have attached from epc are not the same. 24A2 and 25A3 respectively. Whatever you choose to do, by replacing the gear set in the driveshaft housing you will need to check and possibly adjust the shimming

due to the seal design and upper case design GEN II gears will not work in a Alpha1 case
