Curious - How old can a thread be?

I found a thready that was started in 2007, but it was still an open thread that I saw an opportunity to contribute what seemed to be new information (powdered oxalic acid). Oxalic acid was discussed throughout, except in powdered form. Another response followed before the thread was closed by the moderator. Hence, how long can a thread remain active before policy or opinion deems it closed?

A follow-up question: Can closed threads be searched, or will the discussion be reinvented anew someday?

What does confusious say?

ezmobee,

Thanks.

Following rule #12, the preference is to start a new thread rather than contribute to an open thread. If the interest of the originator is satisfied, then a new thread is warranted.

Now, can a closed thread still be viewed?

I had the same thought about contributing information. It was posted that old threads are like library books:rolleyes:
I think the bottom line is in rule #12 Lot of activity on this site. Moderating is a full time job, to sift through all the post . I can Respect that:)
