Re: Classic boat pic gallery (20yr and older)

I need help to identify this boat make, model and year so I can say if its a classic. I would like to buy it from a guy who dont know himself about boats. This looks like a great fixa upper restoration project for me who by the way never owned a boat before. Any info is appreciated. Thanks and safe boating.

The initial letters of the HIN denote the manufacturer and the last two digits are the model year.

If you are in the USA, having "MAMOO" placed where it is, is illegal. Only the registration numbers can be on the front 1/3 of the boat.

That boat is beautiful, not only in appearance, but in functionality from the deep V hull to the flare and the planked flooring....course Century has been one of the "Primo" boats since conception.

Very Nice,

Actually I am in the caribbean and the boat is as well. Thanks for the info. No luck identifying the make model or year since I have not seen the boat as yet as I am not presently in the country. Was just trying to do some preliminary research on it before I decide to buy it. I thought someone looking at the pictures alone might have been able to say the make. I will view it in a couple of weeks from now . Thanks and stay safe in the water.

I got the make, model and year of manufacture. Thanks for the assistance. I can now make an informed decision on whether to purchase and do the restoration or look for a better deal. Its a 1988 Yamaha P17X by the way. Its 17ft and has a 140 hp yamaha outboard. So I guess its a classic after all. Thanks people and stay safe on the water.

Home built from set of pre-cut steel plates over four years and launched in 1987. Still going strong. Total build cost using mainly secondhand parts and equipment ?20,000 (about US $30,000).

I'd like to see some pics of the build on that one. Was that pic taken from a plane or helicopter?

Love the pics of the unfinished doghouse area. I really mean that. I wish I had that kind of carpentry skills.

How do you plan to finish that? Gassed over with gel coat would be heavy but would look awesome. Vinyl would take some serious appoulstry (sp?) skills but also be fantastic.

I already finished it and I am starting on the cuddy.

I put a 4 inch foam and vinyl on the sundeck.
I cut straight down and back beside the buckets and made a narrow removable bench between the two small buckets on either side of the doghouse, and the seats on each side of the dog house are hinged so I can put an igloo cooler like the blue one in the pic under each seat. As far as finish I painted the wood light grey to match the carpet, and it looks okay
