I just got this boat and I am in the process of getting it in the water. I am having a heck of a time trying to find the cap/rotor and points parts numbers so I can go to the local parts store and get them. This engine is a gm 3.0 liter and they can only search by specific vehicles (go figure).
Does anybody know what the part numbers are for these or know what vehicle this engine was in? First boat so I'm learning.
Thanks!!!

For those ignition parts try a 1964 Chevy II 4 cylinder.
Different motor but parts should work.

Done deal! parts are ordered and waiting at NAPA. Thanks a bunch for your help. The boat has 400 hours on it, turns over fine and has spark. I just want to replace all the ignition parts before I fire it up.

Ok, so the distributor cap isn’t the same? What about the rotor, points and condenser?

Parts for mercruiser are located via engine serial number. Post yours and others here can properly direct you to the correct source for parts

Ayuh,..... I moved this to the Merc forum, as marine distributors ain't the same as a '64 Chevy,.....
If it is the points type distributor how do the points etc. differ from the auto ones?
I've been using that type for 40 years. No explosions so far!

Wet easy to find what you’re looking for. Likely about 8 of every 10 boats made in that year had your engine in it. Or not far off it. Your engine will be the same as any GM 3.0 from the late 80’s right up to about 2000. Ball park. Won’t be the same as a ‘64 car engine though.
