I took apart the carburator and cleaned it up. On the high speed nozzle, there once was a rubber gasket of sorts, kind of like an incredibly small version the rubber gasket on the ends of your garden hose.
Well I lost the dag nab thing. I put it back together anyway and now the motor bogs down and won't go to wide open throttle. It idles, however, like a champ now.
The motor is a 1974 model and I can't find a carb kit for it. Does the carb kit include this gasket?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Re: 6hp Johnson Carb

i believe your talking about the rubber ring that gets squeezed by a paking nut.If so,I have used teflon plumbers tape.Take a length of say 4 inches double it back on itself and then roll it like a cigerette. You can then rap it around the needle cutting so you have an equal amt around the needle.I like to go with 2 rings. Then tighten it down til snug allowing to make adjustments with knob attached,to loose and it leaks, tight and you will strip the adj.knob.FYI the older engines used a pakin material .it should work fine
