I have just invested in a new boat with a 50hp Mariner 2 stroke ELTPO. It goes like a raped-ape,for a 50, but seems not to pee much while on the flushers. I notice it has an extra water intake under the cav plate and also has a thermostat. Has anyone operating a similar motor had this issue ?

G'day. These motors do have a seperate water pickup but the usual muffs should serfice for flushing. I have noticed this problem in some areas where the water pressure is low.

Follow up for those who are interested. There is a pickup beneath the cav plate and as you flush with the muffs, a lot of water flows out of this hole reducing the pressure to the rest of the motor. If you put your hand over it, the flow increases through the pee-hole. It looks like someone needs to invent 3-eared muffs for the new motors.
