I just bought a small boat with this engine on it. I've never had an engine this small and was wondering if there is supposed to be a small air box or something on the front of the carb? Right now the carb is just open in front. There are some threaded holes on the front of it like something might bolt on but again I'm not sure, smallest engine I've owned before this was a Johnson 70 and it had an air box on it.

The engine is very clean for it's age and has been well taken care of, so I don't see why the PO would've taken something off the carb, just checking.

Thanks.

A lot of the smaller engines did not have any type of air box. Go to the BRP website and look up your engine and look at the parts breakdown and see if you see anything.

Those mtrs didn't come with an air box. OMC bean counters.

Ok thanks good to know. I didn't think it had one, actually doesn't seem to be much room for one in there, with the foam inside the cover. I assume it makes no difference in the way that it runs?
